Rehabilitation

JMT’s extensive design history involves the repair and reconstruction of structures such as:

  • Bridges over water, highways, and railroads constructed in steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and timber with straight or curved I or box girders in simple or continuous spans.
  • Deck rehabilitations of bridges, including concrete overlays or full deck replacements using concrete, open grid or filled grid systems.
  • Bridge widenings, including inside widening, outside widening, continuous deck, and longitudinal joint.
  • Culvert extensions, including single cell, multiple cell, corrugated metal, pre-cast concrete and cast-in-place concrete.
  • Moveable bridge repairs, including bascule, swing, single leaf and double leaf spans.

We also perform bridge inspections ranging from preliminary visual inspections to in-depth, hands-on inspections in order to meet agency reporting requirements.  These are completed with non-destructive testing using corrosion potential and R and D-meter equipment and destructive testing using cores, chloride samples, and steel coupons.  We even provide detailed scour analysis and underwater inspection on waterway bridges as well as seismic evaluations.  All work is performed under the direction of registered professional engineers.
