Sparks, MD - One of JMT’s most important clients, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), recently received the 2005 Exemplary Systems in Government award in the Single Process Category from the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA). URISA is considered to be the premier organization for the use and integration of spatial information technology to improve the quality of life in our urban and regional environments. The DPW received the award in recognition of the U-View web portal that has been developed to provide department management and staff with direct access to geospatial data stored in the department's geodatabases. This ArcIMS-based portal -- accessible via the City’s secure intranet -- provides a map-based graphical user interface to critical data for the City’s water, wastewater and stormwater networks. JMT played a pivotal role in the development of this portal by providing overall application development management services and quality assurance and control throughout all phases of the portal’s development. We commend the City of Baltimore for its use of technology to augment its capabilities and to more efficiently share information.
