Baltimore City GIS Program Management

 

Since 1999, JMT has performed project management services for the expansion of the City’s Geographic Information System (GIS). The City has been developing a highly accurate and detailed GIS within the Department of Public Works.  JMT continues to assist the City with the development and expansion of this system.  Specific Services include:

  • Management of GIS Development - On-site staff manage the City’s Oracle database of planimetric, topographic and utility data related to GIS.
  • Management of GIS Consultants - JMT interfaces with consultants producing GIS data for the Bureau of Water and Wastewater.
  • Quality Assurance - Testing of submitted data before loading accepted data onto City servers to be made available for general use.
  • Developing Data Access Guidelines and System to Support Public Access
  • Developing Technical Specifications Including Cost Estimates
  • Developing, Managing and Maintaining UNIX Based Computer Systems
  • Developing, Managing and Maintaining ARC/INFO Based Applications
  • Developing Quality Assurance/Quality Control Procedures and Methods
  • Evaluating and Recommending Computer Hardware and Applications Based on Cost, User Needs and Ease of Use
  • Design and Installation of GIS Hardware and Software Solutions and Staff Training
  • Preparing Strategic Implementation Plans and Other System Documentation
  • GIS Services and Technical Support for a Variety of Projects
  • Produced a point layer of the City’s utility facilities including treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, tanks, maintenance yards and dams.
