Construction Documentation System

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) contracted JMT to develop, implement, and train construction managers and inspectors on a system that provides a Project Management/Control System for use in maintaining construction documentation and project administration processes.  JMT is developing this Construction Documentation System (CDS) software to capture all field data related to contractor activity on PTC construction projects using in-house technical experts in construction management and state of the art software development. The Construction Documentation System Millennium Edition (CDSme) provides:

  • Automated Link - An automated link between the construction work performed in the field and the fiscal and project management systems used to administer the construction program.
  • Automates the collection, storage and dissemination of inspection documentation collected during the construction phase of highway and bridge projects.
  • Targeted to help construction inspectors organize and store their field notes and supporting documentation in a cumulative fashion as a construction project progresses.
  • CDSme covers all construction inspection activities from the point when a construction project is initially setup through all phases of mobilization, construction and final acceptance.
  • CDS also calculates estimated payments, and tracks the approval of contractor invoices for work completed and validated by the construction inspectors.
  • CDSme exchanges information with contractors, turnpike project managers and fiscal officers, subcontractors, construction inspectors, design engineers, federal, state and local government officials and the general public.
  • Hand Held PDA's - JMT developed a system to collect project related documentation automatically using hand-held personal digital assistants (PDA’s) or tablet computers.
  • CDS system provides for the inclusion of the Quality Based Inspection subsystem that will collect sampling and testing data and inspection process data for all quality levels.
