Dauphin Bypass

 

After many years of traffic congestion, JMT helped eliminate a major bottleneck in the Harrisburg area.  The Dauphin Bypass, which is the primary connector between Harrisburg and State College, was a heavily congested highway on which drivers often experienced extended delays, especially during the Penn State fall football season. Specific features of the project include:

  • Design of 4 miles of 4 lane limited access highway with frontage roads
  • Reconstruction of 2 miles of existing 4 lane highway
  • Diamond Interchange at PA Route 325
  • Directional Interchange at PA Route 225
  • 52 Structures including Bridges, Retaining walls, Box Culverts and Noise Wall
  • Environmental features for wetland mitigation and wildlife enhancement and permiting
  • Comprehensive Public Involvement
  • Won Pennsylvania Partnership for Highway Quality Award
  • Project performance evaluation by PennDOT resulted in a perfect score of "10" for the services provided on the project
