JMT's Environmental & Facilities Division is working with our GIS specialists as we complete the High Level Sewershed Study and Plan, a multi-year project to assist the City of Baltimore with information gathering and rehabilitation planning for its 100-year old sewer system. Data management, which encompasses a wide range of tasks and processes, is a large portion of this project. JMT manages GIS, Survey, Manhole Inspection, Closed Circuit Television, Hydraulic Modeling, and Smoke and Dye Testing data.
The first phase of the study involves the field inspection of manholes, coupled with the collection of manhole locations using highly accurate mapping grade GPS receivers. This allows inspectors to acquire sub-foot GPS coordinates for all manholes. The field inspection databases are synchronized regularly with the master database. Rigorous quality control procedures are applied to the data, and then it is synchronized with the City’s master GIS database.
