As part of a design/build team, JMT prepared bridge plans, specifications and estimates for the reconstruction and widening of I-4 in Orlando. The Design/Build Project Delivery method entailed submittal and approval of plans as each bridge unit (foundation, substructure, and superstructure) was completed.
JMT was responsible for the design of the widening of four dual prestressed concrete bridges and the widening of a single steel girder bridge, on the mainline of I-4.
These bridges cross Michigan Avenue, Kaley Avenue, Gore Street, Division Street and South Street in Orlando.
Widening of the I-4 dual bridges was accomplished using prestressed concrete I-beams and steel girders.
JMT also provided services for bridge deck joint repair as well as deck repair and rehabilitation.
Bridge construction sequencing was coordinated with the roadway maintenance of traffic.
Project milestones were met within the fast-track schedule of seven months from design initiation to final approval of all construction plans.
