Maryland World War II Memorial

The Maryland World War II Memorial is a lasting tribute to Marylanders who fought for the principles of freedom.  JMT helped complete the conceptual design for the construction of the memorial, which included selection of a beautiful array of high quality granite materials.  The project was completed within its 270-day schedule.

The memorial includes the following features:

  • Four-sided, open-air amphitheater
  • One hundred-foot diameter ring of nine-foot high granite pillars with engraved names of those Marylanders who gave their lives
  • Granite monuments, accented with stainless steel plaques, describing the wartime milestones, key events, and the contributions of Marylanders
  • Two 14-foot diameter granite globes depicting the locations of key World War II battles in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres
  • Five-pointed, stainless steel obelisk accented by a star that is illuminated each night
