Naval Support Activity (NSA) Norfolk, an 800-acre site owned by the U.S. Navy, is the headquarters of several military commands and support facilities. Naval Facilities Engineering Command requested that we complete a study to determine short, intermediate and long-term recommendations that would address the NSA's parking and pedestrian needs. The project includes tasks including:
classifying all parking spaces, by type and use
developing an inventory of current parking inventory by type and use
forecasting future parking requirements based on existing and proposed building usages
recommending improvements to maximize parking layouts and minimize safety risks
evaluating pedestrian footway and crosswalk locations and providing recommendations for construction of new footways and crosswalks
providing condition survey of all sidewalks and crosswalks including repair priorities and costs
providing planning level condition survey of parking lot pavements
